The Quality of our Water Good water must offer at least one thing: PURITY. Pure water tastes wonderful, and it helps our bodies eliminate toxins, carcinogens and dangerous metals. Spring Water is bottled water that flows naturally from an underground source to the surface of the earth. Spring water must be collected directly from the spring, or from a bore-hole that is adjacent to the natural point of emergence. Spring water collected by pump, or any other device applying external force, must retain all the properties of, and be of the same composition and quality as, the water flowing naturally to the surface, Unfortunately, no surface water or municipal water that is chemically treated should be labelled pure. Tap water quality is inconsistent at best, and suffers from several disadvantages. First, municipal tap water is usually treated with chlorine, which makes the water taste bitter. Second, tap water flows through pipes, which in older buildings may contain lead. Its quality is not guaranteed by the time it reaches you. Further more the supplies are often threatened by industrialization, agriculture, and natural disasters. While boiling tap water kills some harmful bacteria, it does not remove any other chemicals or minerals that may make the water taste objectionable, or may be hazardous to your health. The total dissolved solids (TDS) in bottled waters have long been given credit for curing everything from depression to arthritis, with good reason. In 1979, the French National Medical Academy proved that one brand of water did in fact prevent and control gout and kidney disease. Today, leading research in the medical and diet industries indicates that calcium and magnesium seem to work together to strengthen our bodies. Both of these nutritional minerals are well represented in Vital Source Natural Spring Water. Vital Source Natural Spring Water is rich in natural minerals, and the Typical Analysis is as follows: (NB: This analysis can vary depending on when sample is taken.) | Typical Analysis (Mg/L): | | Sodium | 9.9 | Potassium | 0.22 | | Chloride | 4.26 | Calcium | 0.14 | | Bicarbonate | 3.00 | Iron | 0.16 | | Magnesium | 1.6 | fluoride | 0.1 | | | | | | | Total Dissolved Solids | 60 | PH | 6.9 | · Sodium is essential to human life. It aids in the proper functioning of muscles and nerves while enhancing digestion. Our water is low in Sodium (salt) · Chlorides are important in the human body as they contribute to the osmotic activity of body fluid. · Bicarbonates are found in some spring waters, including Vital Source Spring Water. As they have long been valued as a digestive aid, we view them as an important ingredient in a 1st class drinking water. · Magnesium is essential for healthy muscle tone and is essential for well balanced nerve functions. It also aids in the metabolism of calcium and Vitamin C and the body needs it to convert blood sugar to energy — a “tonic” nutrient. · Potassium benefits muscle building and promotes vigor and energy. · Calcium is the most prevalent mineral in our bodies. It is the principal component for the growth and maintenance of healthy teeth and bones. · pH is a term used to indicate whether water is acidic or alkaline and 7.0 indicates neutral on a scale of 0 to 14. Citrus and tomato juices, and some soft drinks, will be acidic with a pH below 6.5 It is recommended by the International Bottled Water Association that the pH of drinking water should be between 6.5 and 8.5 Vital Source Natural Spring Water, at 6.9, is seen as “soft”, easy to drink with a pleasant palate. The Process Our water is pumped from the spring and spring bores into 4 holding tanks with stainless steel Grunfos pumps. From the holding tanks the water is pumped through a 15, a 3, and then a 1 micron absolute filter to remove any sand or floating particles. A 1micron filter will remove bacteria. The water then passes through an ozone filter, which sterilises and cleanses the water to remove any bacteria. We then circulate the water through two product water tanks and two 15 micron Filters to soften the water. The water is then sent to the bottling machine where it goes through yet another 15 micron filter. Your Spring Water is bottled and shipped out less than 48 hours after is taken from the Spring. Our water has a full A & NZ Food code 8 test at the Australian Government laboratories every 6 months. (see typical analysis above) We also test our water daily for bacteria, ozone etc in our "in house" Laboratory and send out samples to a NATA lab once a week. We do not use chlorine as a final disinfecting agent in our bottled water. We use ozone (03) a form of oxygen, and ultraviolet light. Unlike chlorine, which is commonly used in public water supplies, these methods disinfect water without leaving any after taste or smell. And finally our water does not contain Bromate. Bromate is a naturally occurring substance that is sometimes found in springwater. Bromate reacts with the ozone used to sanitise your water, and can cause nausea and diarrhoea.
